Our story

From One School Bus to 75+ Van Conversions

2Pines started with a trade. In 2018, Steven swapped his old motorbike straight across for a 1991 Bluebird school bus. No cash, just a handshake and a bus that needed everything. We named her Judy.

Judy took twelve months of late nights, figuring out how to build something nobody hands you a manual for. Plenty of those nights ended with Rock Band and Call of Duty zombies in a half-finished bus. When she was done, Steven lived in her full time, then moved cities and started the company. Living inside your own work changes how you build it. Every corner you cut is a corner you stare at over breakfast.

Then there's the drawing: Mitchell was visiting his cousin when he noticed a sketch on the wall, a river running through trees that could have passed for the original Paved to Pines logo. His grandfather, Papa Ross, drew it in the 90s before Mitchell was born. It felt like the company was always meant to follow that drawing.

Today, 2Pines Upfitters is a Prince Albert van builder running out of a 5,500 sq ft shop in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, with more than 75 custom van conversions out the door since Judy. We're still a small crew building one van at a time, and that's by design, from commercial van conversions to four-season campers.

What we believe

Three things we don't bend on.

01

Built by hand. No shortcuts.

If we can't build it right, we don't build it.

02

Real materials. Every time.

Solid hardwood. Real plywood. No particle board.

03

Built for where you actually go.

Canadian climate, Canadian roads, Canadian winters.

The crew

The people who build your van.

A small crew means the person who quoted your van knows the person wiring it, and they're usually standing ten feet apart.

Design

Every build starts in Fusion 360. Your van is modeled to the millimetre, and you approve the exact layout, start from one of our van conversion floor plans or design from scratch, before a single panel gets cut.

Systems + electrical

Victron power, Espar heat, marine-grade wiring. The crew that designs your system is the crew that installs it.

Millwork + finish

Hand-built cabinetry in Baltic birch. Every build is made to last.

Inside the shop
