Almont · Transit 148 EXT
Client consignment
Almont is a Ford Transit 148 EXT camper van conversion that came through 2Pines Upfitters in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan as a client consignment. It runs a 48-volt Volta Power lithium system with 13.2 kWh of storage, a 6000W secondary alternator, and 380W of solar. Inside there is a wet bath with a composting toilet, a fold-up Murphy bed, an induction galley with an Isotherm 195 fridge freezer, and a full water system with a 38-gallon fresh tank and a hot water heater. We feature it here because it is a good look at what a serious 48-volt systems package does in a Transit.
The Story
Almont came to us a little differently than most vans on this site. It is a Ford Transit 148 EXT, finished in Abyss Gray, that we handled on consignment for a client. We are telling its story anyway, because most of the build pages here are Sprinters, and Almont is a clear answer to a question we hear a lot: can a Transit carry a full four-season systems package? It can.
The electrical system is the headline. A 48-volt Volta Power lithium system stores 13.2 kWh and recharges off a 6000W secondary alternator, with 380W of solar topping things up while the van sits. That is enough capacity to run the 48V Mach 10 air conditioner, the induction cooktop, and the electric convection microwave without a generator or a campground hookup. Water is handled by a 38-gallon fresh tank, a hot water heater, and an insulated and heated 22-gallon grey tank, so the plumbing keeps working when the weather stops cooperating. A thermostatic cabin air heater covers the cold nights.
Inside, a fold-up Murphy bed keeps the floor open during the day, with hardwood countertops, a Lagun table, bench seating, upper cabinetry, and a biometric safe rounding out the living space. The wet bath pairs a composting toilet with a Nautilus self-cleaning shower door. Underneath, the suspension was sorted with a rear 5-leaf mini spring package, Falcon 3.3 SP2 fast-adjust shocks, Sumo springs, and a leveling kit, while an Aluminess front bumper with a Warn winch kit, a Stoked Adventure Rack, and a Fiamma awning handle camp life. If you are weighing a Transit against a Sprinter for your own build, Almont is worth a long look.
