GFL · Mobile Command Trailer

Commercial

The GFL Mobile Command Trailer is a full-length semi-trailer converted by 2Pines Upfitters in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan into a mobile headquarters and base camp for Green For Life (GFL) disaster relief and emergency response work. Inside are multi-stall washrooms, showers, stainless hand-wash sinks, a dedicated emergency shower and eyewash station, bulk fresh water storage, and an off-grid battery bank with inverter power, so a crew can roll into a site with no services and get to work. We build vans now, not trailers, but this one shows how far the commercial side of the shop can stretch.

The Story

When Green For Life (GFL) sends crews into a disaster zone, the first problem is not the work. It's the basics. After a flood or a storm there is often no clean water, no power, and nowhere to wash up at the end of a shift. GFL needed a base camp that could be towed in and supply all of that from day one, so we built it into a full-length semi-trailer wearing their signature green.

Step inside and it reads less like a trailer and more like a small building. One side runs multi-stall washrooms with commercial partitions, flush toilets, and stainless hand-wash sinks, plus a private shower and a dedicated emergency shower and eyewash station, the same gear you'd find bolted to the wall of an industrial plant. Behind the wall, a mechanical room carries the load: bulk fresh water tanks, a hot water tank, a pressure system, insulated ducting, and a battery bank with inverter power, with rooftop air conditioning keeping it all livable in summer.

We don't build trailers anymore. The shop is full of vans, and that's where we've decided to stay. But the GFL trailer is a useful thing to look at if you're a fleet manager wondering whether your idea is too strange for us, because the thinking is identical at any size: power, water, heat, and finishes that survive a work crew, planned as one system. If a Sprinter and a full-length semi-trailer can both come out of the same shop, your mobile workspace probably can too.
