Sunshine Clinic · Sprinter 144
Commercial outreach
Sunshine Clinic is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 144 mobile outreach clinic built by 2Pines Upfitters in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, for Sunshine House, a community resource centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The van takes Sunshine House's community health and harm reduction work out of the building and into the neighbourhoods where it's needed, so the people they serve don't have to find their way to a front door first.
The Story
Sunshine House is a community resource centre in Winnipeg doing outreach and harm reduction style community health work. A lot of the people they serve will never walk into a clinic on their own, so Sunshine House goes to them. That meant they needed a vehicle that could do the job year-round, through a full Manitoba winter, and still feel like a welcoming place to step into.
The Sprinter 144 gives the team a warm, private, mobile space to work from. Bench seating runs down both sides so staff can sit beside someone instead of across a desk from them, a swing-arm work table folds out when there are supplies or paperwork to spread out, and a small galley with a sink and a compressor fridge keeps water and temperature-sensitive supplies on board. When the doors close, the team has a quiet, private space parked wherever the work is that day.
Everything inside is built for daily use. The cabinetry comes out of our shop in Prince Albert, the floor is seamless non-slip vinyl, and the seating is wrapped in easy-clean vinyl, because an outreach van sees more hands in a week than most camper vans do in a season. A powered roof fan keeps air moving when the van is full, and there's a mounted fire extinguisher right at the entry.
