Wolfram · Ram ProMaster 159
Full custom, accessibility
Wolfram is a Ram ProMaster 159 accessibility conversion built by 2Pines Upfitters in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, for a couple from Saskatoon. A BraunAbility wheelchair lift at the side sliding door carries a wheelchair straight onto a flat, open floor, so the van works for both of them from the moment the door slides open.
The Story
Most camper vans assume everyone on board can climb a step, squeeze past a galley, and pivot in a hallway the width of a cutting board. Wolfram starts from a different assumption. The couple who commissioned it wanted to travel together, and the wheelchair had to be part of the design from the first drawing, not something the layout merely tolerates.
The lift sets the whole floor plan. A BraunAbility lift lives in a low-profile housing under the side door, so there is no ramp to wrestle and no transfer at the curb. It raises the chair to floor level, and from there the aisle stays flat and open all the way to the cab, with a recessed tie-down track in the floor to lock the chair down for travel. The bath sits right inside the door: a wall-hung sink with clear space underneath, a toilet with padded fold-down grab rails, and nothing to climb over to reach any of it.
What it doesn't look like is a medical vehicle. The cabinetry is the same wood we put in every 2Pines build, the rear sofa seats two in front of a wall of windows, and a Danby microwave and flip-up tables handle meals on the road. Accessible design here just means the van fits the people who own it, which is what a custom build is supposed to do anyway.
